The Pasco County Sheriff’s Office said that they have arrested 38-year-old Lawrence Franklin, after being accused of using his Cadillac to run over former police officer William Denamen, 79, who works as a school crossing guard.

Franklin has been charged with one count of aggravated battery against a senior citizen. He was booked into jail, and his bail has been set at $30,000.

A judge ordered Franklin to stay away from the school and Denamen.

According to the police investigation, Franklin was taking his daughter to the Calusa Elementary school on Tuesday around 9:30 a.m.

Denamen then realized that Franklin was trying to cut in line.

Denamen walked over to Franklin and told him that it is wrong for other people who have been here before him. In anger, Franklin blew the horn for five minutes.

When Denamen started to walk away, Franklin hit him with his car. When Denamen regained his balance, he was hit again.

Franklin told police that he did not intentionally run into Denamen.
