People in the United Kingdom, were shocked when a judge allowed a man to register as a sex offender and walk free so he can have children of his own.

The man was arrested after police found that the IP address linked to his Internet account had been downloading child abuse images.

Police arrested 41-year-old Richard Arrowsmith of Derbyshire, and they confiscated his computer, external hard drive, laptop, mobile phone and USB sticks.

Investigators found that he had downloaded a staggering 137,000 photography images, many of them of child abuse.

Arrowsmith, who is married, told the court that he wants to be freed so that he can start a family with his wife, and the judge agreed.

Recorder Martin Butterworth said that the suspect is 41 years old, with no previous convictions. He pleaded guilty at the earliest opportunity.

“I am taking into consideration your previous good character, you have a wife who supports you, a steady employment and your hopes to start a family in the near future,” Butterworth said.

Arrowsmith was sentenced to 10 months in prison, which was suspended for two years, and he will have to register as a sex offender.

He was placed on probation for 12 months, in which time he cannot leave his house between 7:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m. He must carry out 160 hours of unpaid work and he has to pay £250 ($310) in court costs.
