Police officers chased a chicken and took it to a police station after crossing a road and scaring motorists, according to police in Scotland.

Dundee police said that they were called on Friday around 8:30 a.m., after several drivers reported that they saw the chicken wandering on the road.

Police officers who responded to the scene, chased the chicken and caught it. The chicken was then taken to the police station, where it will be kept until the owner claims it.

The chicken is being cared for by the Scotland Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. Police are appealing to the public for information that might help them locate the chicken's owner.

“Officers were dispatched this morning after reports of a chicken trying to cross the road and giving passing motorists cause for concern.

“The bird was traced safe and well, and has been brought to our police station. The SSPCA has been contacted and will be attending to take care of the chicken until the owner is traced. Police are appealing for any information as to why the chicken was crossing the road,” police wrote on Facebook.
