A father was arrested after abducting his son from his mistress before selling the child.

Police in China, said that the 33-year-old father, who was identified as Chen, abducted his own 2-year-old son and then sold the child to a buyer whom he met in a chat room for people seeking to adopt children.

Chen sold the boy for only 44,000 yuan ($6,552).

The child’s mother, who was Chen’s mistress, told police that Chen came to her home and asked her to allow him to take their son to his parent’s home so they can raise him while she works.

The woman refused. Chen then violently snatched the child away from his mistress and ran away.

Chen boarded a train with his son in the province of Zhejiang, and he traveled to Hunan to meet the buyer, who police said was a divorced 40-year-old man named Zhu, who was suffering from infertility.

During their chat, Chen claimed to be a single mother who could not afford to raise her son. Chen was asking for 100,000 yuan for the child.

However, the two went back and forth over the price until they both agreed to the 44,000 yuan.

When Chen arrived to meet the buyer, he said that he was the boy’s uncle.

It took one week for police to located Zhu, and they took the baby from him.

Zhu was arrested for child trafficking for buying the boy. The mother and child were reunited and Chen was arrested.

Chen told police that he accumulated more than 3 million yuan ($444,000) in debt after losing money in a business and bad investments.

He said that he was threatened by his creditors and was forced to come up with cash quickly.

Chen is being held in jail on charges of kidnapping and child trafficking.
