A lawyer said that he was shocked when his elderly client tried to kill him.

Keith Couture of Madisonville, Louisiana, said that he was working in the back of his office when he heard someone coming in.

He was not expecting anyone at that time, so he went to investigate. He was confronted by an elderly client who suddenly pulled out a gun.

75-year-old Patricia Currie told Couture, who is a married father, that she came to kill him. The attorney jumped into action and after a struggle, he was finally able to wrestle the gun from her.

Currie was reportedly angry after receiving a letter, stating that Couture was trying to withdraw as her lawyer for her bankruptcy case.

He no longer wanted to represent the elderly woman because they “disagreed fundamentally on the direction and the procedure to take,” according to police.

However, the judge denied his request to withdraw from the case.

Couture, who also deals in criminal law, said it was the first time in his 23 year career that he had been attacked or threatened.

When police arrived, Currie was uncooperative and refused to give her name. The elderly woman was arrested and is facing several charges, including aggravated assault with a firearm and resisting an officer.

The attorney has since filed a new motion to be removed as Currie's bankruptcy lawyer.
