A driver was arrested in a charge of negligence resulting in death after ramming his vehicle into an elderly woman while playing Pokemon Go, according to police in Japan.

Now, 39-year-old Keiji Goo of Tokushima, has been sentenced to serve 14 months in prison after being found guilty of negligence resulting in death and injury in connection with the death of 72-year-old Sachiko Nakanishi.

60-year-old Kayoko Ikawa suffered serious injuries.

According to the criminal complaint, Goo was driving his car while playing Pokemon Go.

When Goo reached an intersection, he did not noticed that two women were crossing the street as he was too busy playing the game on his cellphone.

His car struck the two women, killing the 72-year-old woman at the scene. The other woman was seriously injured. Some people criticized the sentence as too lenient.
