A man was arrested on a charge of assault after allegedly attacking a grocery store worker while saying that he is a vampire, according to police in New Hampshire.

Concord police said that they have arrested 21-year-old Jacob May, after being accused of attacking a woman and her co worker as they were taking out garbage to a dumpster.

May was charged with burglary and assault. He was booked into jail, pending a bail hearing.

According to the criminal complaint, on Tuesday around 1:30 a.m., the female employee was carrying boxes to a dumpster when she was approached by May.

May offered to help the woman, claiming he was a vampire. The woman began running back to the store while May shouted for her to touch him.

The woman called her coworker for help and then fell to the ground. May grabbed the woman and wrapped his arms around her.

The woman’s coworker tried to intervene and May attempted to beat him as well.

As the they fought, the coworker pulled out a box cutter to try to intimidate May, who ran into the store and ended up inside a freezer.

The employee tried to lock May in the freezer, but the employee was pinned to the ground. When May tried grabbing the box cutter from the male employee, he was stopped by the police.

May told police that he was a vampire. Police said that May was visibly under the influence of alcohol, drugs or a combination of both.
