(Scroll down for video) Workers at a university campus were shocked to find a baby who was discarded like a piece of trash in a dumpster.
Police were called to the Claflin University in South Carolina, after the baby was found alive without clothes or a diaper inside two trash bags.
The two custodians of the college told police that they took out trash from dorm rooms at 8:55 a.m. When they placed the trash into the dumpster, they heard crying.
They untied the knot of the garbage bag, they saw another bag inside. In the second bag, they found the baby.
The baby boy, who was just five hours old when he was found, was taken to a hospital, where he is said to be in good condition.
Police later arrested the child’s mother, 19-year-old Amber Fulton, who is a student at the university. Fulton told police that she gave birth to the baby boy in the bathroom in her dorm room.
The baby, who was full term, weighed 5 pounds and 7 ounces. Fulton said that she hid her pregnancy from her family and she disposed of the baby after he was born.
The teenager is now facing charges of attempted murder and illegal contact towards a child.
