Two women who work for the department of social services in Michigan, were arrested for failing to protect a boy.

The social worker and her boss have been charged after prosecutors said that they failed to protect the boy whose body was found decomposing in an apartment in Detroit.

Elaina Brown, 24, and her supervisor, Kelly Williams, 47, were charged with involuntary manslaughter, child abuse and neglect in the death of 3-year-old Aaron Minor.

The boy’s body was found decomposing inside an apartment that he shared with his mother, Deanna Minor, 28.

Minor, who suffers from mental illness, checked herself into a mental institution 11 days before her young son was found dead inside the home.

Aaron’s body was found by a maintenance worker who noticed a foul smell.

Minor was arrested on charges of felony murder, second-degree murder, first-degree child abuse, and failure to report a dead body.

Prosecutors said that Brown and Williams did not provide a safety plan or request a police check-in even after they identified him as vulnerable.
