(Scroll down for video) A young boy with Down syndrome in Ireland, is lucky to be alive after a dog alerted his parents that he was stuck in a working dryer.

5-year-old Riley Gedge-Duffy of County Down, suffered burns and bruises after climbing into the dryer in his home.

The dryer was then turned on as nobody knew that the boy was inside. 42-year-old Aaron Duffy said that their dog Teddy, immediately sprang into action.

Teddy first ran upstairs and started barking to get the attention of Riley’s mother. The dog barked like crazy, and ran back and forth to the dryer.

Riley’s mother Gillian and Aaron, went to the dryer and realized that their son’s iPad was turning inside. They immediately shut off the dryer and pulled out their son.

Riley was in the dryer for about five minutes. Riley’s mother poured cold water on him, and he was taken to the Ulster Hospital.

Riley suffered burns as well as bruises on the head. He is said to be in good condition.
