26-year-old Iskra Lawrence of Worcester, was on a crowded Manhattan train during the rush hour commute when she announced that she would like to speak.

She the began talking about looking at the beautiful parts of the body and be positive. She took off her clothes to the amusement of the commuters.

“I grew up hating what I saw in the mirror because society told me I was not good enough. I thought there was something wrong with me because I didn’t have a thigh gap and had cellulite,” she said to the crowd that did not seem interested to listen.

“That is the media, that is society making a small standard of beauty, when we are so much more than that. This body is not just something to be objectified, to be grabbed or to be looked at. This is my vessel. This is my home. I respect it,” Lawrence yelled at the crowd.

Lawrence revealed that she became sad when someone told her that overweight people are disgusting. Another person urged her to stop eating French fries and burgers at McDonald's.

“I want to make myself vulnerable today so you can see clearly that I’ve come on with my own body and how I feel about myself today,” she said on a YouTube video as part of the #UNMUTED series.

“I’m going to reveal myself to you to prove that we are in control of how we feel about ourselves,” Lawrence added.

“You deserve to love yourself, you deserve to feel comfortable and confident, and I really hope that you connected with me today and that you’re going to take something away from this,” she concluded.
