A young man was arrested on a charge of attempted murder after allegedly stabbing his father in the neck because he did not want to be circumcised, according police in Florida.
Miami police said that they have arrested 20-year-old Alex Fultz, after being accused of stabbing his father who wanted to perform a circumcision on his son.
In court, Fultz pleaded not guilty to one count of attempted murder. He was booked into the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, and he is being held without bail.
According to the police investigation, Fultz has been diagnosed with schizophrenia, bipolar disorder and autism. Fultz told police that he was angry with his father who wanted to perform a circumcision on him.
Fultz said that he was scared the procedure would hurt. Fultz begged his father to take him to a urologist, but he did not listen and insisted to perform the ritual by himself.
On Saturday evening, Fultz saw his father sleeping on a couch.
He grabbed a knife and stabbed his father in the neck. The father was taken to the Jackson South Community Hospital, where he is being treated for a stab wound to the neck.
He is expected to survive.
