A man is causing a rift in his family after announcing that he going to marry his stepsister.

Both of them call Robert Kirkwood, 75, their Dad.

Dean Hunter, 47, and Julie Lloyd, 52, were close as sister and brother when they met about 10 years ago.

Five years after they first met, the two fell in love while Hunter was going through a divorce. He moved into his stepfather’s home in Whitefield, Manchester.

Lloyd was his shoulder to cry on, and she helped him through his divorce.

Hunter said that after drinking, he made the first move and kissed Lloyd in the kitchen. The two kept their relationship a secret until recently, for fear of backlash from the family.

Now, they are ready to get married regardless of the criticism from many people.

Kirkwood gave his biological daughter his blessing to marry her stepbrother, saying: “They are good for each other and if they have feelings for each other, then fair enough.”

Lloyd did not know her father while growing up. She hired a private investigator to find him. Kirkwood split from Lloyd’s mother before she was born in 1964.

Hunter's biological father died in a car crash and his mother married Kirkwood in 1975. He acted as a role model to Hunter.
