Macon County police said that they have arrested 49-year-old Keith Eugene Mann, after being accused of starting at least two forest fires.

Mann has been charged with destroying property of the United States by fire. He was booked into the Buncombe County Jail, where he is being held without bail.

According to the police investigation, Mann’s wife recently left him. Mann became depressed and he told police that he has nothing to live for.

He decided to start wildfires as a way to get a little excitement and treat his boredom. Mann used wooden matches to start both wildfires.

Investigators found the same matches at both forest fires. A witness also reported seeing Mann driving in the area when one of the forest fires broke out.

Mann was confronted by police and he admitted to starting the fires.

Mann also told police that he was the person who called the fire department as he worried the fires were burning out of control.
