Elderly taxi driver rams vehicle into hospital killing three patients

(Scroll down for video) Several hospital patients were killed while being treated after an elderly taxi driver rammed his vehicle into the facility, according to police in Japan.

Fukuoka police said that they have arrested 64-year-old Tatsuo Matsuoka, after being accused of accelerating his vehicle into the Harasanshin Hospital.

Matsuoka has been charged with negligent driving resulting in death or injury. According to the police investigation, the incident unfolded on Saturday around 5:00 p.m.

Witnesses at the scene said that they noticed the car accelerating right before crashing into the hospital. The car went through a window, pass through a large room and hit the opposite wall.

Matsuoka had been a taxi driver for 30 years and he had no known health conditions. 44-year-old Moriyuki Hanada and his wife, Misayo, 44, died as a result of the crash.

Kazuyuki Endo, 53, was also pronounced dead at the scene.

Seven people were injured and are in serious condition.

Matsuoka claimed that he tried to stop the vehicle, but the brakes did not work.
