(Scroll down for video) A man risked his life and put the lives of others in danger in order to retrieve a cellphone that has fallen onto train tracks, according to police in New Jersey.
The New Jersey Transit Police said that they have arrested Eric Jones of Manhattan, after being accused of activating the emergency brake and jumping out of the train.
Jones has been charged with interfering with transportation and defiant trespass According to the criminal complaint, Jones opened the emergency door as the train was near the Secaucus Junction.
A crew member stopped the North Jersey Coast Line train, at which time Jones jumped off. NJ Transit condemned the reckless behavior in the strongest possible terms.
Not only did he cause a delay to other customers, but the actions endangered the safety of hundreds of customers, crew members and himself.
It is unknown if Jones was able to retrieve his phone.
