Street cleaner receives many gifts after being mocked on social media for looking at gold jewelry

(Scroll down for video) A poor man was horrified to learn that people were making fun of him for looking at jewelry while working as a street cleaner.

Someone took a photo of 65-year-old Nazar al-Islam Abdul Karim, looking at jewelry in a store window while he was cleaning the streets of in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

The photo was uploaded to Instagram, with the caption: “This man deserves to only look at rubbish.”

Humanitarian Abdullah Al-Qahtani, 38, was outraged with the post and decided to locate the street cleaner and buy him jewelry.

Al-Qahtani's tweet was shared more than 6,500 times and users were able to identify the cleaner who makes a monthly salary of $187.

Many people sent him gifts, including money, an iPhone and jewelry. Karim said that he is very thankful to all those who reached out to help him.

Meanwhile, the woman who posted the photo mocking Karim, received a lot of hate mail and her account has since been changed to private.
