A woman who was hospitalized in an intensive care unit, could not break her meth habit and smoked the drug despite the fact that she was putting her life in danger, according to police in Florida.
Spring Hill police said that they have arrested 52-year-old Scott Allen Burns, after being accused of bringing meth into a hospital.
Burns has been charged with possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was booked into the Hernando County Jail, and his bail has been set at $10,000.
According to the criminal complaint, a concerned person called 911, and reported that a woman who was connected to oxygen was smoking meth at the Bayfront Brooksville Hospital.
The patient in the Intensive Care Unit, was seen putting a glass pipe into her mouth and smoking while she was on oxygen, which is highly flammable.
Burns, who is the woman’s boyfriend and was the only person to visit her in the hospital, was found in possession of a plastic bag and red straw, which tested positive for meth.
