Married school administrator busted for using district's credit card to pay for his affair with his mistress
A married man who wanted hide his affair from his wife, used his employer’s credit card instead of his own.
However, he was busted when school officials found a charge for a hotel on the credit card.
54-year-old Israel Canales was having an affair with 38-year-old Cristy Cofer, who is also a married woman.
She worked as the school district community liaison for families who have children in the juvenile justice system.
It was discovered that Canales used the district's credit card on two occasions to conceal his affair.
One time, he used the credit card to reserve a room at the Westin Fort Lauderdale for a one-night stay. The hotel placed a hold of $120.99 for the room.
Canales actually paid in cash and the credit card was reimbursed.
According to police, when he was questioned by a coworker who received the bill, Canales initially said he accidentally gave his son the wrong credit card to reserve a hotel for his graduation party.
However, he later admitted that he had used the card to hold the room, even though he later paid cash.
Among other things, Canales also gave his lover a prime parking space that she was not entitled to. He is now facing disciplinary actions and he may lose his job.
