A mother and father are asking the public for help in finding their 10-month-old baby.
Abdulrahman Balogun of Nigeria, was watching his son, Richard, outside of his home.
He was chatting with his tenant John Elvis David, while waiting for his wife, Bunmi, to finish getting ready for church.
When it was getting late for services and she did not come out, Abdulrahman decided to go inside to see what was taking so long.
The tenant offered to watch the boy while Abdulrahman went back inside. When the couple came out, David and Richard were nowhere to be found.
The father, who works as a teacher, called David, but he did not answer his phone.
Police were called, and they launched a massive search for the child. A woman later called police and said that she saw David with the child on a bus while she was traveling in Warri.
Police arrested the three friends who shared the apartment with David.
Abdulrahman later discovered that the kidnapper had been using a false name since he moved into his apartment five months before the incident.
The couple said that David, who was unemployed, was very friendly and he was very generous to Richard. The family said that they never suspected that David “was this wicked.”
