Former police officer waterboarded his wife and burned her with a lighter as he sexually assaulted her

(Scroll down for video) A former police officer was arrested for torturing his wife for 13 hours.

Police in West Virginia, went to the home when someone requested a welfare check after being unable to contact the woman.

When officers arrived at the home, former police officer Kevin Woodrum, 43, refused to let them in. They eventually made contact with the woman.

She told police that she had been tortured by her husband for 13 hours. Police found injuries on her that were consistent with her claims.

According to police, Woodrum tied his wife to the bed, and beat her and sexually assaulted her. He also burned her with a cigarette lighter and he waterboarded her by pouring large amounts of water on her face.

Woodrum was arrested on charges of wrongful injury, assault, kidnapping, strangulation, domestic violence and domestic assault.

Woodrum and the victim have two children together.
