(Scroll down for video) Home Depot announced that they had fired employees who helped police arrest a thief because the acted against corporate policy that prohibits workers from interfering during a robbery.
The four employees were workers at a Home Depot located on Garden Street in Palm Harbor, Florida.
Police said that they have arrested 22-year-old Brandon Charles Edward Mullins Lowe, after being accused of shoplifting $3,500 worth of tools from Home Depot.
Lowe has been charged with grand theft. He was booked into the Flagler County jail, and he is being held without bail. Police said that the four fired Home Depot employees helped them build the case against Lowe.
The four employees were identified as Jeffrey Miller, 59, Jazmin F. Kelly, 27, Joe P. Spector, 29, and George Ippolito, 56.
Miller said that he was shocked to be fired as all he did was write down the license plate number of the vehicle used by the suspect.
Ippolito said that all he did was pick up some of the merchandise that was dropped by the suspect while Kelly asked the shoplifter for his receipt.
A spokesperson for Home Depot said that the company has a firm policy against workers interfering with shoplifters as no amount of merchandise is worth risking anyone’s life.
