(Scroll down for video) A woman was arrested after it was discovered that she used fake names and social security numbers to get free gifts that were meant for underprivileged kids.
38-year-old Tammy Strickland of Florida, was arrested for stealing toys from Toys for Tots, which is a program that distributes toys to children whose parents cannot afford to buy them gifts for Christmas.
Polk County police said that Strickland filed 29 fake applications, and she received many free gifts from the charity organization that is run by the United States Marine Corps Reserve.
Police are now investigating Strickland, as they believe this may not have been the first year that she stole from Toys for Tots.
Investigators also want to know what Strickland planned to do with the kids toys and gifts she received for free.
Strickland was busted after listing herself as the contact person on all of the applications, deputies said.
Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd said that Strickland “will be going to the place where we lock up Grinches. You are going to the county jail, or Grinch city.”
