Shopping on a low budget can be challenging, but it can be done with a few simple steps.
Here are some tips to help you save on your shopping bill every time.
Use a notepad or an app on your cellphone to create your grocery shopping list.
Every time you run low on something, grab your phone and add that item to the shopping list.
Don’t wait for the item to be completely empty in order to avoid the hassle of running out of food when you need it.
Have a master list on a document. Create a document by using a program such as Excel, to write down everything that you use in your home, including things such as shaving cream and feminine products.
Every time before you get ready to go out shopping, check the master list to make sure that you did not forget anything.
In case you are not sure if you have a certain item, take an extra moment to check if you need to buy it or not.
This will ensure that you do not have to run back to the supermarket for forgotten items.
It will also save you money by not buying an item that you already have and less food will go to waste.
Before leaving your home, take time to eat. If you are in a rush then you don’t have to sit down for a full meal, but eat something that is filling.
This will save you a lot of money on impulse buying as when we are hungry we tend to buy a lot more food than we really need.
Stick to your list. When you see items that are on sale, don’t just grab it because it is cheap. Sales are meant to get you to buy more. Ask yourself “do you really use it.”
Think about your master list and buy the sale product only if it’s on your main list and you use it every month.
If you go shopping with children or if you like to munch on food while shopping, take along snacks in your purse.
This will help you avoid spending money on packages of food items that you would not have bought otherwise.
