2-year-old boy suffers frostbite after mother left him alone in snow covered car for 14 hours while she drank vodka all night

(Scroll down for video) A woman who has a drinking problem, left her young son in a freezing car for many hours while she drank vodka at a bar, according to police in Colorado.

Thornton police said that they have arrested 26-year-old Nicole Carmon, after being accused of causing her 2-year-old son to suffer from frostbite by leaving him in the car for 14 hours.

Carmon has been charged with one count of child abuse. She has been booked into the Adams County Jail, and her bail was set at $50,000.

The father of the child said that he plans to petition the court for full custody of the boy. Carmon has an older daughter, and she was handed over to the custody of child protective services.

According to the criminal complaint, a babysitter called the police after Carmon came looking for her children. The babysitter became concerned as Carmon did not leave her children in her care.

Police began frantically searching for Carmon’s Ford Fusion. On Saturday afternoon, police located the car and it was covered in snow.

The boy was found sitting inside, and he was alert and conscious. The boy was rushed to a nearby hospital after suffering hypothermia and frostbite.

Doctor might have to amputate his leg.

Carmon admitted to having a drinking problem and told police that she drank vodka all night while her son was alone in the car for 14 hours.
