(Scroll down for video) A young a determined boy begged the manager at a McDonald’s to give him a job.
When he was told that he was too young, Trenton Gardner of Bicknell, Indiana, began to cry.
He eventually sweet talked his way into getting hired to wash tables.
Rhonda Butler, the McDonald’s general manager, said that every time Gardner came in, he asked for a job.
“He was very perseverant, every time he would come in, he asked ‘am I hired? Do I get a job? Can I start?’” Butler said.
The boy told Butler that he can make food or do any job they need him to do.
Butler eventually relented, and “hired” Gardner. She made him an honorary employee, complete with his own apron and hat, so he can work at the restaurant. His job was to wipe tables and the 7-year-old was so proud of himself.
The boy explained that he did not want the money for himself, instead, he uses his wages and tips to buy toys for Toys for Tots so underprivileged children can receive great gifts for Christmas.
His employers at the McDonald’s store also pitched in by donating toys to Toys for Tots.
“If he’s willing to work so hard at 7, I only imagine what he’s going to be like when he gets older,” the boy’s mother Lindsey Garner said.
