A woman of Alabama, who ordered six live birds that were scheduled for delivery through the United States Postal Service (USPS), said that she does not understand why they all arrived crushed to death.

60-year-old Rhonda King of Grant, ordered six live canaries for her hair salon as a birthday gift for herself.

King paid $600 for the birds and $100 for the shipping.

The birds were placed in a special approved box that allow live animals to breathe. The box was also clearly labeled that it contained live birds.

When the postal delivery person brought the box into her store, he said that the shipment has arrived but the birds are dead.

King saw tire marks on the box, indicating that it was run over by a truck. A manager of USPS has apologized to King, and has vowed to find a solution that will satisfy her.

King owns and operates Above A Cut at Rhonda’s.
