Thieves print their own money and use the cash to buy items for sale on Craigslist

The fake money printed by the thieves

Three thieves were arrested after being caught printing their own money and buying items for sale on the Internet, police in Washington said.

Detectives from the Major Crimes Task Force (MCTF), began an investigation involving an individual that was purchasing items listed on “Offer Up” and “Craigslist,” and using counterfeit currency to pay for merchandise.

Detectives had information involving an attempted theft of a Rolex watch using counterfeit money that occurred in the Bellevue area.

With the assistance of a previous fraud victim, detectives listed a Rolex watch on the website “Offer Up.”

Almost immediately after posting the advertisement for the watch, an individual contacted and MCTF undercover detective via the undercover phone that had been listed in the ad.

After speaking with the caller, detectives believed that he was the same suspect involved in the Bellevue fraud incident. The individual requested information on the Rolex watch that was listed on the “Offer Up” posting.

The individual attempted to negotiate a price for the watch, which ended up being $5,100.

The purchaser contacted detectives via the phone number, and set up a location to meet and purchase the watch in the City of SeaTac on Pacific Highway, South.

The meeting was set for 5:00 p.m., in the bar of a restaurant.

At about 5:30 p.m., police observed two possible suspects arrive in a vehicle, which parked in the parking lot of the restaurant.

Eventually, one suspect got out of the car and after nervously looking around the area, went into the restaurant and met with the undercover detective.

Both suspects were very nervous and repeatedly looked around the area prior to entering the restaurant. At 6:00 p.m., the suspect made the transaction for the watch with the undercover MCTF detective.

The suspect was immediately arrested in the restaurant while the second suspect was arrested in the getaway vehicle, which was parked with the engine running in the lot.

Once they were arrested, the suspects were taken to the East Precinct for questioning. Approximately $5,100 in counterfeit currency was confiscated from one of the men.

It appears that these suspects have been doing this scam for a while, utilizing counterfeit cash, primarily $100 bills and $50 bills, to purchase items on “Craigslist” and “Offer Up.”

After questioning the suspects, it was determined that the suspects were manufacturing the counterfeit money out of a house in Des Moines.

Detectives seized four printers used to print counterfeit money, two garbage bags full of uncut counterfeit currency, two guns and two stolen motorcycles.

A third suspect was arrested at the home. All three suspects were booked into the King County Jail.

A pregnant woman is worried about her health after eating a salad that contained a bloody finger tip.

Cathleen Martin of Atascadero, California, said that she found the bloodied finger in a chicken salad at the Applebee's restaurant in Paso Robles.

Atascadero was with her husband and son in the restaurant when she discovered the fingertip on her plate.

“It was so disgusting,” Martin, who is expecting her second child, said in a press release. “I'm worried about what my family might have been exposed to,” she said.

Her attorney Eric Traut, said that the manager confirmed the fingertip belonged to a chef. Management confirmed that the employee had injured himself while making the salad.

Applebee’s said that they cannot force the cook to undergo medical tests, but the cook has volunteered to do so.

“A body part in food is very rare,” Traut said. “We get calls to represent people who were hurt by foreign objects in food, things that have broken teeth or cut the throats. This makes your skin crawl,” he said.

Traut released a photo of the finger tip that was found in Martin’s salad. The claim is the precursor to a lawsuit. It seeks unspecified damages, medical expenses and lost income.

By: Chan Yuan

A teenage girl of the United Kingdom, was left humiliated after being called fat by a McDonald’s employee.

16-year-old Corrina Hopkinson said that a female McDonald’s employee called her fat after she placed her order.

Corrina was sent to McDonald’s by her mother Sabrina, 37, to buy food for the family, but she said that the workers laughed at her over the big order.

Corrina said that when she asked for her meal, the worker yelled into the kitchen: “Six cheeseburgers. I'm not joking this time. This fat woman wants six burgers.”

Corrina left in tears while other staff members laughed at her at the branch in Shoreham, East Sussex.

When she returned home, her furious mother, who was once a McDonald’s employee, marched back to the store to confront the worker.

She said that Corinna was with her 10-year-old brother Jack, when she was ordering the six cheeseburgers and four fries for them and for her sisters, Ashley-Jade, 14, and Jessica-Abbigale, 8.

“I do not think that six burgers for four people is over the top, but the woman behind the counter made fun of her as if she was going to eat them all,” the mother said.

Sabrina confronted the manager and demanded to speak to the employee who called her daughter “fat,” but her request was denied.

“My daughter gets embarrassed and upset, and doesn't speak up for herself, so as part of being a protective mother, I went down there and let it rip,” Sabrina said.

Unsatisfied about the reaction, the mother went home. Later that day, the mother’s boyfriend went to McDonald's to handle the situation.

That is when the manager called the police. Police reviewed the surveillance video and said that there was no “record of any form of abuse.”

A spokesperson for Sussex police confirmed that they had been called to the restaurant, but they said it was not a police matter and just a civil dispute that did not require police intervention.

McDonald's has denied that the incident took place.
