|SaddleAid seat belt for pregnant women|
Pregnant women who are taken by donkey to hospitals to give birth and for medical checkups, can now feel safer by using a new seat belt especially designed for expecting mothers by a company based in the United Kingdom.
SaddleAid of Anglesey, announced that pregnant women will now be able to climb the ambulance donkeys equipped with inflatable wraparound frames, which will properly secure them for the duration of the rides.
Donkeys are still regularly used to transport pregnant women in many countries, where there are no paved roads. Many families do not have cars, but have access to a donkey or horse to get to hospitals.
Without proper saddles, the women were at risk of falling and injuring themselves and their unborn children. The seat belts are already being used in Afghanistan, and is set to be used for mothers-to-be in Ethiopia.
The company is now training village leaders to use the saddles. The company also believes that the saddles will benefit people with disabilities who want to ride horses or ponies for fun.
