Laverton Police Sen. Sgt Heath Soutar said that the thieves were attempting to siphon gas from the tour bus that was visiting the area.

Soutar said it appeared that the would-be thieves tried to siphon fuel from the bus that was parked on the street overnight.

However, they got a little more than they bargained for when they accidentally accessed the waste instead of the fuel tank.

The discarded cap from the waste tank was found on the floor next to the bus, but the fuel tank was full.

He also said that while Laverton Police were looking for the offenders, they “have absolutely zero interest” in getting back the stolen goods.
