(Scroll down for video) Payless ShoeSource has announced that it is no longer selling light up shoes after firefighters were called to the scene of a car fire that was caused by a pair that belonged to a young boy.

The Harris County Fire Department in Texas, is investigating whether the pair of light-up shoes was the fault of the car fire.

Atila and Jovan Virag told investigators that they bought the Jake and the Neverland shoes for the 2-year-old son. The child took of his shoes on Friday, and left them in the car.

When the couple went to the car on Saturday morning, they found the back seat was burned and smoking. Jovan saw one shoe on the floor with wires protruding.

Jovan believes that the lithium-ion batteries inside the shoes may have been the culprit. As a result of the fire, Payless has pulled the shoes off the shelves until the investigation is completed.

Woman’s eyes damaged after McDonald’s toilet paper dispenser falls off wall and slams into her face

(Scroll down for video) A woman suffered damage to her eyes after a toilet paper dispenser fell off the wall and hit her face while using a bathroom at McDonald’s, according to court documents in New Mexico.

Veronica Espinoza, who is a police officer, used the women's bathroom at the McDonald’s in Santa Fe, when the incident occurred.

Espinoza told the court that as she tried to take toilet paper in the usual way, the dispenser, which was not properly mounted on the bathroom wall, fell off.

The dispenser slammed into her eyes and separated her retina.

Since then, Espinoza is suffering from floaters in her vision.

The lawsuit accuses McDonald's of negligence as employees should have known that the toilet paper dispenser was not properly secured to the wall.

Espinoza wants at least $10,000 in damages to cover lost wages, medical expenses, pain and suffering.

Woman becomes pregnant weeks before surrogate gave birth to her twins

(Scroll down for video) A woman was shocked when she became pregnant after a number of failed attempts.

Lauren Lichtnauer and her husband, Myron of Australia, had been trying to have children for years, but were unsuccessful.

After undergoing 21 unsuccessful IVF treatments, including four miscarriages, her friend Rosie Luik decided to step in and be a surrogate for the couple.

Luik of Brisbane, who is a model and mother of four children, decided to be a surrogate and because pregnant with her friend’s twins.

Lichtnauer said that she went through a period of being jealous of her friend who was carrying her babies as she wanted to be able to carry her own children.

However, she said that while she was jealous, she was also very appreciative and grateful to her friend.

“I was jealous that she got to carry these babies, but I was also in complete utter amazement and awe that someone would love me and find me special enough to do that for me,” she said.

However, just weeks before the twins were due, Lichtnauer learned that she was pregnant.

Lichtnauer is now raising all her three children. Both Luik and Lichtnauer said that the experience strengthened their friendship and brought their families closer together.

“Seeing my best friend’s face when the children were placed in my arms was just magical and it's something I will never forget,” Luik said.

Woman follows her GPS and drives car straight into lake

(Scroll down for video) A woman is lucky to be alive after following her GPS straight into a lake, according to police in Canada.

Bruce Peninsula Ontario Provincial Police said that the 23-year-old woman took a wrong turn and drove onto a boat ramp on Thursday night.

She then drove straight into the Georgian Bay. It was dark and stormy, and visibility was low. The woman’s red Toyota Yaris quickly sunk below the surface.

Luckily, she was able to roll down the window before the car’s power went off. She wiggled out of the car and swam to shore.

Police said the water temperature was below 40 degrees, and the woman had to swim about 100 feet to reach shore. She then walked to a hotel to ask for help since she left her cellphone in the car.

The woman’s car was pulled out of the lake, but it could not be repaired. The woman did not suffer any injuries.

Amusement park employee killed and 9 injured while testing out new ride

(Scroll down for video) Employees of an amusement park in India, were seriously injured after testing out a new ride for the company.

The accident occurred on a Disco Dancer in the amusement park located in Chennai, on Wednesday night.

A video of the incident was uploaded to the Internet. The video shows the company employees at the park after they were invited by officials to test out their brand new ride.

The employees took their places on the ride and it began to operate. However, their cheers turned to screams as the ride slipped off the tracks, throwing them all to the ground.

A 25-year-old man died at the scene. The park owner and its manager have been arrested after the incident.

One 17-year-old employee told investigators that employees did not want to go on the ride, but they were forced by the management.

Luckily, he only suffered minor injuries. A total of 20 workers were on the ride when the accident occurred.

Popular soccer coach rapes 13-year-old boy in front of his mother before killing entire family

A soccer coach was arrested on a charge of murder after allegedly killing an entire family and raping a 13-year-old boy, according to police in Switzerland.

Schafisheim police said that they have arrested 33-year-old Thomas N., after being accused of raping the 13-year-old boy in front of his mother.

N., who is a soccer coach for children, acted for financial and sexual motives in the killing of 48-year-old Carla Schauer, her 13 and 19-year-old sons and the 19-year-old man’s 21-year-old girlfriend.

According to the police investigation, the suspect persuaded Schauer to let him into her home. He then tied up the family members and forced her to withdraw about $11,000 from a bank.

He then raped her 13-year-old son before killing all four by cutting their throats and setting fire to the house. Police said that fingerprints and DNA at the scene matched the suspect.

Police said the arrest of the suspect may have prevented more murders. The suspect worked as a coach for the FC Sarmenstorf soccer club.

Stella of Orange is the New Black kicked out of restaurant after throwing French fries at employees

A popular actress of Australia, was kicked out of a restaurant in Louisiana, after being accused of throwing French fries at employees.

Ruby Rose, who played Stella in Orange is the New Black, was kicked out of the Rebellion Bar and Urban Kitchen on Friday.

Rose also works as an Australian model, actor and DJ. Seung Hong, who is the owner of the restaurant in New Orleans, said that Rose was having a tantrum like a little child.

As Rose was throwing the French fries around, she cursed the employees of the restaurant. Rose was in New Orleans this week, to perform at the Metropolitan Nightclub.

Rose went crazy after it took too long for waiters to bring the food that she ordered. After getting violent, she was told to leave the restaurant.

My assistant, tour manager and myself arrived at an establishment last night for dinner before my show in New Orleans.

“We waited 60 minutes for fries and over 90 minutes for food that never actually arrived. When I asked about the food, the bartender offered us drinks. I explained I'm sober, but thank you.

“He then made some really rude and vulgar comments to us at the table. When someone makes repeated derogatory jokes about the sobriety I worked so hard to achieve, it's hard not to react emotionally. So I threw a singular fry at him.

“Then he came back as we were getting ready to leave and continued making awful comments, so I continued with the fries,” Rose wrote on Facebook.

17-year-old boy kills himself after 12-year-old cousin rejected his marriage proposal

A boy was found hanged on a tree in an apparent suicide after his cousin rejected his marriage proposal, according to police in Nigeria.

Bauchi police said that 17-year-old Usman Abdu, was found hanging on the tree on Friday around 9:00 a.m.

Passersby who noticed the boy hanging on the tree, quickly took him down and rushed him to the Soro hospital, where he was declared dead.

According to the preliminary investigation, Abdu hanged himself on the tree after his cousin, a 12-year-old girl identified as Hajara, rejected his marriage proposal.

The two lived in the same house for several years. Investigators recovered a rope that was used by the victim at the scene. The body was released to family members for burial following an autopsy.

Dog rescued from shelter gets bitten by venomous snake while protecting owner’s 7-year-old daughter from the reptile

(Scroll down for video) A young girl in Florida, is lucky to be alive thanks to her loyal dog, which fought with a venomous snake in the family home in Tampa.

Adam DeLuca revealed that his 2-year-old dog Haus, which he adopted from an animal shelter, sprung into action after seeing the venomous snake heading towards his 7-year-old daughter Molly.

Haus kept jumping in front of the snake, acting as a barrier between the snake and the girl. The mother of the girl, Donya DeLuca, said that the dog had the opportunity to run away, but it decided to fight.

As a result of the act of bravery, Haus was left bleeding, and was taken to a veterinarian. The dog suffered three bites from the venomous snake.

The dog was treated with painkillers and anti-venom, and is expected to recover. The dog could suffer from permanent kidney damage as a result of the snake bites.

IRS agent takes $20,000 bribe from marijuana dealer to look the other way

(Scroll down for video) An IRS agent was arrested on a charge of bribery after accepting thousands of dollars from a marijuana dealer in exchange for favorable audit report, according to court documents in Washington.

Now, Paul G. Hurley, 43, of Seattle, has been sentenced to serve 30 months in prison and three years of supervised release for accepting the $20,000 bribe.

Hurley was convicted following a three day trial. U.S. District Judge John C. Coughenour called Hurley’s crime a tremendous breach of public trust.

According to the police investigation, Hurley was randomly assigned to audit the corporate taxes of Have a Heart Compassion Care, Inc., a medical marijuana dispensary.

In a meeting at one of the dispensary locations, Hurley presented the owner of the dispensary with the findings of the audit.

Hurley indicated to the business owner that he had saved the owner millions during the audit and that he lived paycheck to paycheck.

Hurley asked the business owner for $20,000. The business owner and his attorney reported the bribe request to the FBI.

Working with law enforcement, the business owner met twice with Hurley, and in recorded conversations, delivered cash in marked bills.

Hurley had written on the audit paperwork that the business owner had no money to pay on his tax bill following the audit.

Hurley had been an agent with the IRS since 2009, and he resigned after the conduct was discovered.

Sexy weather girl forced to put on sweater during live broadcast because her dress was too revealing

(Scroll down for video) People who were watching the weather report on KTLA, which is based in Los Angeles, California, were shocked to see a news anchor interrupting the weather girl and handing her a sweater.

The incident unfolded as Meteorologist Liberte Chan was reporting the weather wearing a sleek black dress on Saturday around 8:20 a.m.

The station immediately received numerous emails, claiming that Chan was not dressed appropriately for a morning weather report.

As a result of the complaints, news anchor Chris Burrous interrupted her forecast and handed Chan a grey sweater. At first, Chan was confused, asking if he wanted that she should put on the sweater.

After putting it on, Chan looked at herself and said that she now looks like a librarian instead of a weather girl. Burrous was criticized for publicly shaming Chan and not standing behind her choice of clothing.

Burrous said that he was just joking around with Chan when he gave her the sweater. Later, the news anchor read some of the emails that viewers have sent to the station.

Some viewers called Chan’s clothes totally inadequate, and said that it showed poor judgment. One viewer said that it seemed like Chan forgot to change her clothes following a night out of drinking at clubs.

Man robs business using empty potato chip bag

Police are looking to arrest a thief on a charge of armed robbery after allegedly ordering a cashier at a car wash to fill up his empty potato chip bag with cash, according to police in California.

Rohnert Park police said that the incident unfolded around 8:00 p.m. on Friday, at the KaCees World of Water located on the Rohnert Park Expressway.

According to the police investigation, the suspect approached the cashier with the potato chip bag, and put it down on the counter.

The suspect then said he had a gun in the bag, but the cashier realized that there was only a piece of cardboard inside and called another employee for help.

The suspect was described as a black man about 30 years old and around 5 feet 8 inches tall. He fled after the second employee came to help the cashier.

Rohnert Park Police said that the suspect was last seen south on Redwood Drive, wearing a black baseball cap, dark pants and a black sweatshirt over a white shirt.

Judge gives squatter order of protection against homeowner who demanded she move out of apartment

(Scroll down for video) A homeowner in California, was shocked to learn that she was barred from having any contact with a squatter who moved into her home without her consent.

Sandra Forbes revealed that the squatter, who was not identified, managed to persuade a judge to issue a restraining order, protecting her from being forcefully removed from the property.

Forbes said that the squatter has been living in her home in Fair Oaks, without permission for two months. Forbes is not the first person to complain about this particular squatter.

Two other homeowners revealed that they were victims of this woman. Susan Haltom said her nightmare began four years ago.

The woman signed a lease and paid the rent for several months, but then stopped making payments, claiming that the property was infested with mice.

The woman lived there for a year and a half before moving out.

The squatter claims that she signed a lease with Forbes, but the homeowner said that this was not the case, adding that she has never met the woman.

The squatter produced a lease, but Forbes claims that the lease is fraudulent.

Now, Forbes was barred from having any contact with the squatter after being served an order of protection signed by a judge.

Sweet looking grandma robs three banks with scarf on her head

Police in New Jersey, are looking for a grandmother who robbed three banks.

Police are searching for the grandmother who robbed three banks during a two day crime spree.

The elderly woman, who they believe to be about 60 years old, entered three different banks and handed a note to the tellers demanding cash.

The woman was wearing black clothes and a strangely wrapped scarf over her head. She is not believed to be armed.

Police released photos, showing her wearing a bright green handbag in each of the three robberies.

The unidentified woman first walked into the Wells Fargo bank in Willingboro, New Jersey, and demanded money.

Surveillance video shows her walking to the counter at 11:40 a.m., with bandanna partially hiding her face. Police said the woman approached a teller and handed him a sheet of paper demanding cash.

The blond woman, who is 5 foot 6 inches tall, got some cash and left the bank. Just hours later, Two different TD banks in Hamilton, New Jersey, were robbed by the same woman who handed a note demanding money.

Police did not disclose the amount of money the grandma received at each bank. They are asking for help in identifying the woman.

Police hope that people will recognize her or her green purse, and turn her in to authorities.

Woman pays $10 hour for animal lover to take her tortoise for a walk

(Scroll down for video) An animal lover landed the great job of walking a tortoise in a baby carriage to a park.

400 people applied for the $10 per hour job of walking Henry the tortoise.

The animal's owner, Amanda Green, who lives in Manhattan, New York, had the 17-pound African tortoise for two years. Henry is a social media star with thousands of followers on Instagram, where he is known as The Notortoise BIG.

Green said that she felt guilty that she did not have time to take the reptile to the park now that the weather is nice, so she posted an ad to Craigslist, looking for someone to do it for her.

Green said that she expected to get some responses, but she was overwhelmed when she received 400 emails included some from Australia.

Green interviewed some people and she eventually chose Amalia McCallister, who works part time at a pet store.

McCallister’s job includes placing the tortoise in a baby stroller and taking it to Central Park, where it can roam free. Green pays $10 an hour, for 6 hours each weekend.

AT&T employee found dead hanging upside down from a utility pole

A man was found hanging from a utility pole in California.

Authorities confirmed that the man is an employee of AT&T.

61-year-old Robert Alfred Hernandez of Studio City, was found hanging upside down from a pole in Los Angeles. His work vehicle with an AT&T logo on it, was parked at the scene.

Rescuer workers found him around 3:00 p.m. on Friday, in the neighborhood of Glen Valley. They took him down from the pole and he was declared dead at the scene.

Authorities are not sure if this was an electrical accident or a medical emergency that caused Hernandez’s death.

However, Margaret Stewart of the Los Angeles Fire Department, said that initial reports suggest that Hernandez had a medical emergency while working on the pole, but an official determination will be made by the LA County coroner.

Man arrested for gun possession while wearing shirt with gun and offensive slogan on it

A man was arrested after being found with a loaded gun and an explosive device.

Police in Missouri, arrested the man they say had a loaded gun and a homemade explosive device in his car.

Caleb Ayers was wearing a shirt that had a picture of a gun and the slogan: “If at first you don't succeed reload and try again,” while he was in his car that was parked outside a bank.

Cass County Sheriff's deputies were called around 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, to the 100 block of Second Street Drexel, by employees who reported a suspicious person in a car parked behind the bank.

Officers found a loaded pistol and hand-made explosive device in the vehicle. The area around the bank was evacuated, and the Lee's Summit Bomb Squad responded and disarmed the homemade device.

The sheriff's department said that the suspect was arrested on outstanding warrants for vehicle theft.

Gynecologist removes young woman’s eggs without her consent to sell them on the black market

A doctor was arrested on a charge of theft after allegedly stealing the eggs of a woman who underwent a procedure at his clinic, according to police in Italy.

70-year-old Severino Antinori of Rome, was arrested as he was about to leave the country at the Fiumicino airport.

The gynecologist was charged with theft and causing injury.

Police launched an investigation after a 24-year-old woman filed a complaint, saying that Antinori diagnosed her with an ovarian cyst with the sole intention of harvesting her eggs.

During the procedure, Antinori removed the woman’s eggs without her knowledge. The woman told investigators that her cellphone was taken away before the procedure.

She was forcibly restrained, put under anesthesia and underwent surgery without her consent. The woman called police from a payphone at the clinic after the surgery.

Prosecutors said that the arrest of Antinori, is extremely serious as it indicates the existence of a black market for eggs.

Antinori became famous around the world after successfully treating women older than 60 years old who suffered from infertility.

Plane makes emergency landing after flight attendant slits wrists in toilet

Flight attendants were shocked to find their colleague with slit wrists in the toilet of an airplane en route to the United Kingdom.

The British Airways plane landed in Iceland, after the flight attendant attempted to commit suicide.

The incident unfolded on flight BA 282 from Los Angeles, California, to London. Staff members made the grisly discovery before alerting the pilot.

He was found lying on the toilet seat. Passengers who noticed that the toilet had been locked for a long time, alerted the flight attendants.

The plane was full of Hollywood executives who went to the Cannes Film Festival.

The aircraft took off 20 minutes late from California around 4:00 p.m. on Monday, and was due to land at London Heathrow at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday.

However, the plane was forced to make a sharp turn to the north around 7:00 p.m., after the dramatic suicide attempt. The Airbus A388 landed in Reykjavik around 7:45 a.m.

The British Airways flight attendant was immediately taken to a hospital, where he was treated and released. The plane then departed Reykjavik, and landed in London around 1:30 p.m.
