Man punches restaurant employee after being served cold French fries

Tavares Jones

A man who was angry for being served cold French fries, retaliated against a restaurant worker by punching her, according to police in Florida.

St. Augustine police said that they have arrested 25-year-old Tavares Jones, after being accused of assaulting a Steak n’ Shake employee on Thursday.

Jones was charged with one count of battery. He was booked into the St. Johns County Jail, and his bail has been set at $1,500.

According to the criminal complaint, Jones approached the drive-thru of the Steak n’ Shake restaurant on Thursday morning, and ordered fries.

When he received a cold batch of fries, Jones ordered new chips and some ketchup from the restaurant. He then threw the cold fries back at the employee.

The employee said that Jones got very angry and demanded that she come out and fight him. He also reached through the window and punched her in the arm.

Terror victims’ families suing Google and Facebook for providing material support to Islamic State

(Scroll down for video) Several giant social media companies were slapped with a lawsuit, alleging that they provided material support for Islamic State, also known as ISIS, according to court documents in Michigan.

Family members of Tevin Crosby, Juan Guerrero, and Javier Jorge-Reyes, who were killed in the ISIS inspired Orlando, Florida, shooting at the Pulse Nightclub, filed their lawsuit in federal court on Monday, naming Google, Facebook, and Twitter, as defendants.

Representing the families are Keith Altman and Ari Kresch of 1-800-LAW-FIRM of Southfield, Michigan.

The lawsuit was filed in U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan.

The lawsuit asserts that the defendants knowingly permitted ISIS to use their platforms for recruiting purposes, spreading propaganda and raising funds to carry-out terror attacks.

Through the use of the defendants' platforms, ISIS has acquired over 30,000 foreign recruits, countless donations, and a level of prosperity that would have been unachievable otherwise.

The Orlando gunman, Omar Mateen, is responsible for ending the lives of 25-year-old Crosby, 22-year-old Guerrero, and 40-year-old Reyes, along with 46 others in what is now known as one of the worst mass shootings in U.S history.

Mateen identified himself as an Islamic soldier and pledged his allegiance to the Islamic State while on a call with police during the attack.

Among the contributing factors that led to the tragedy, Mateen was in part radicalized by ISIS propaganda posted on the defendants' platforms.

The complaint incorporates intelligence that the defendants are using ISIS' posts to create unique content by combining these posts with advertisements selected by them.

Once these posts and advertisements are combined, this newly created content is being served to specific viewers who have an interest towards that particular content.

"Social media companies continue to allow terrorists to operate, despite reasonable steps that could be undertaken to stop them. The defendants not only continue to let terror groups like ISIS use their sites to tout hate and plan attacks, they also profit from it," said Altman.

Each of the defendants place advertisements on ISIS content, profiting directly from their postings. In at least the case of Google's YouTube, advertising revenue is shared with ISIS.

Altman and Kresch are also representing Reynaldo Gonzalez, the father of Nohemi Gonzalez, the only American victim of the ISIS perpetrated Paris, France, attacks.

(Scroll down for video) A United States Postal Service letter carrier has lost his job after being accused of dumping thousands of pieces of mail in the woods.

Thomas O. Beaurem, 25, of McDonough, Georgia, has been indicted by a federal grand jury on a charge of unlawfully delaying and destroying mail.

He was arraigned in court, and he pleaded not guilty before federal Magistrate Judge Justin Anand.

“People rely on postal service employees to safely deliver their important letters and packages,” said U. S. Attorney John Horn.

“Beaurem allegedly violated this trust by dumping over four thousand pieces of mail in a wooded area in Decatur,” Horn added.

“The overwhelming majority of Postal Service employees are honest and dedicated public servants who are worthy of our trust,” said U.S. Postal Service Office of Inspector General Special Agent in Charge Paul L. Bowman.

“However, when we receive allegations of mail delay or destruction, our agency will aggressively investigate these matters to protect the overall integrity of the Postal Service,” Bowman added.

According to the criminal complaint, the United States Postal Service was informed that there appeared to be a significant quantity of undelivered mail in a wooded area in Decatur.

United States Postal Service investigators located the area and found approximately 4,500 pieces of mail, some with cancellation dates of several months back.

Some of the pieces of mail were too badly damaged to deliver.

Beaurem was allegedly responsible for the delivery of the recovered items. The mail that was in deliverable condition has since been delivered to its intended recipients by the Postal Service.

How To Rent An Apartment With A Good Landlord

Keys to an apartment (illustration)
By: Wayne Morin

Renting an apartment could be a better option than buying a home for those who do not want to deal with huge mortgage payments, taxes, home repairs and maintenance costs.

However, having a good landlord will make all the difference when it comes to living peacefully and without any worries.

Here are some simple tips to find a good landlord.

When you search for an apartment, it is important to look for advertisements in reputable places such as local newspaper and community bulletin boards.

When you are trying to contact potential landlords, keep track of how much time it takes to reach them.

If a landlord does not pick up their phone and doesn't call you back within a reasonable amount of time, this may be a good indicator that they will not be available for you when something goes wrong in the apartment when you are the tenant.

When you see the apartment, look around carefully. Check for leaks in cabinets under the kitchen sinks and bathroom sinks.

Check around the toilet and bathtub for mold stains.

If you find anything of concern, talk with the landlord right away.

If the landlord is not willing to take care of the issue before you move in, then you can be sure that you will have trouble getting things repaired once you signed a lease.

If the landlord agrees to fix something, don’t sign a lease before the problem is solved or write the repairs that are needed into the lease as this will allow you to move out of the apartment if the landlord does not keep their end of the deal.

Remember, it is better to “lose a great” apartment rather than living with a problem that will cause you discomfort on a daily basis.

On the opposite side of the coin, when an apartment has been completely remodeled, landlords may be very uptight about issues, including regular wear and tear.

This can cause unwanted visits from the landlord and disputes over small issues.

It may be uncomfortable to question the previous tenant, but this can be crucial in knowing what kind of landlord you are dealing with.

Ask the tenant why they are moving out. If they are breaking the lease to move out, it should be a red flag and a reason to ask more questions from them and neighbors.

Once you decided to take an apartment, read the contract very carefully. Every landlord has the right to put in the contract whatever they want, even if it seems unreasonable.

If you feel uncomfortable with any part of the contract, discuss the issue with the landlord. If they are not willing to budge, then let the apartment go.

Make sure to get every promise in writing, as something that it not written in the signed contract is as if it does not exist.

After signing your lease, it's best to communicate via text or email in order to have evidence for the future if a problem arises.

When you receive the key, take photos and a video of the entire apartment before moving in.

Immediately, upload it to social media or YouTube. This will give you a date, proving that it was taken before you moved in and will be very helpful in case a dispute arises over damage in the apartment.
