Man breaks into home during family party and kills 11 people including his estranged wife and his 8-year-old son

A family in Brazil, was left devastated after a man broke into their home and slaughtered their family.

The man began screaming about the fact that his estranged wife, Isamara Filier, 41, took away his son from him.

According to witnesses, Sidnei Ramos de Araujo, 46, jumped over a wall of a property in Campinas, and broke into the home before midnight on New Year’s Eve.

Araujo shot his estranged wife in front of their son before killing the boy and his wife’s family members.

11 people were declared dead at the scene and were removed from the home in coffins. Three additional family members were taken to a hospital.

The gunman left a recorded message on his cellphone, apologizing for his actions before killing the family and turning the gun on himself at the scene.

The victims were identified as Isamara Filier, and her son, Joao Victor Filier de Araujo, Rafael Filier, 33, the brother of Isamara, Liliane Ferreira Donato, 44, while her husband is among the wounded who are hospitalized in Campinas.

Alessandra Ferreira de Freitas, 40, the sister of Liliane, Antonia Dalva Ferreira de Freitas, 62, the mother of Liliane and Alessandra, Abadia das Gracas Ferreira, 56, the sister of Antonia, Paulo de Almeida, 61, Abadia’s husband, Ana Lucia Ferreira, 52, the sister of Antonia and Abadia, Larissa Ferreira de Almeida, 24, Ana’s daughter, Luzia Maia Ferreira, 85, the mother of Antonia, Abadia and Ana, and grandmother to Liliane, Alessandra and Larissa, Carolina Oliveira Batista, 26, who was a single mother, were among the dead.

The gunman, Sydnei Ramos de Araujo, 46, worked as a science and technology laboratory technician in Campinas.

Neighbors said that they did not call for help because they thought the gunshots were firecrackers in honor of the New Year.
