Brother and sister who had consensual sexual relationship placed behind bars

A brother and sister were placed behind bars after they were caught having a consensual sexual relationship, according to police in South Dakota.

United States Attorney Randolph J. Seiler announced that the man and woman of Eagle Butte, have been indicted by a federal grand jury for incest.

43-year-old Daniel Mexican and 25-year-old Santana Mexican pleaded not guilty to the sole count of the indictment.

The maximum penalty upon conviction is up to 5 years in prison and a $250,000 fine, 3 years of supervised release, and $100 to the Federal Crime Victims Fund.

According to the criminal complaint, Daniel and Santana knowingly engaged in consensual sex with each other.
