(Scroll down for video) A father is advising people not to invite strangers into their homes especially when you are selling things through Craigslist.

The warning came after his family was attacked by a gunman during the sale of puppies.

CJ Harris of Henrico County, Virginia, said that he placed an ad on Craigslist, trying to sell puppies after his pit bull gave birth to eight dogs.

A man responded to the ad and came to his home. The man purchased two puppies. He paid for them and left.

The man then called Harris the next day, and asked if he still had the other puppies. When Harris confirmed that he had more puppies for sale, the man returned to the home.

This time, he came with two friends and a gun. The suspects paid for two more dogs. Harris then went into his kitchen to put away the money.

When he returned to the living room, the suspect pointed a gun at him.

Harris said that his three-year-old daughter was next to him and his 16-month-old child was a few feet away in a highchair in the kitchen next his wife.

Harris began fighting with the gunman while he wife removed the baby from the high chair, which was hit by a bullet a few moment later.

The gunman shot at the family seven times before escaping with the two puppies.

Harries was shot in the leg. There were two bullet holes in his pants, but luckily, he was not seriously injured. The gunman had bad aim as he shot at household items such as the refrigerator, doors, and the highchair.

Police are looking for the suspects, but so far, no arrests have been made.
