A father who became frustrated about his daughter’s constant crying, killed her by throwing her across a room, according to police in Minnesota.

Palisade police said that they have arrested 33-year-old John Peterson, after being accused of killing his 5-week-old daughter by throwing her into kitchen cabinets.

Peterson has been charged with second-degree murder. The father was booked into the Aitkin County Jail, and his bail has been set at $1 million.

If convicted, he faces 40 years in prison.

According to the criminal complaint, Peterson’s wife called for help after their five-week-old daughter was having difficulty breathing.

Peterson told paramedics that the baby was feeling sick earlier that day before his breathing difficulties began. The baby was taken to a hospital, where she died.

Doctors confirmed that the baby had suffered major head injuries. Doctors called the police to report possible child abuse.

During questioning, Peterson told police that he accidentally dropped his daughter into the kitchen sink. However, his story did not explain the severity of the injuries.

Later, Peterson admitted that he had been frustrated with his daughter because she did not stop crying. He threw her from the living room into the kitchen.

She landed on her back and slid across the floor before hitting her head in the kitchen cabinets.
