5-year-old girl who was reported missing found dead in her parents’ restaurant

(Scroll down for video) Police launched an investigation after a 5-year-old girl went missing from her home in Ohio.

The girl’s mother, Ming Ming Chen, called police and reported her daughter missing.

Chen told police that she last saw her daughter at 4:30 p.m., in the backroom of their restaurant in Jackson Township.

The body of Ashley Zhao, was later found hidden inside the restaurant after an extensive search of the area.

According to the Jackson County Police Department, Ashley’s mother hit the child over the head several times with her fist. Those injuries resulted in Ashley’s death.

After the beating, her father, Liang Zhao, took her to the bathroom of the restaurant and washed her face. That is when he saw that she had stopped breathing.

Zhao performed CPR, but was unsuccessful. When he realized that his daughter died, he hid the body to protect his wife.

Chen was arrested and charged with murder and felonious assault. Zhao was arrested and charged with complicity to murder and complicity to commit felonious assault.
