A young boy is facing a charge of armed robbery after pointing a loaded gun at a homeowner and demanding money, according to police in Mississippi.

Amory Police Chief Ronnie Bowen said that on Friday at approximately 6:00 p.m., the 11-year-old boy went to a home in Amory on 8th Street and asked the homeowner for a ride home.

During the drive, the boy pulled out a handgun and pointed it at the homeowner, demanding money. The homeowner was able to wrestle the gun away from the boy.

The homeowner then brought the boy to the Amory Police Department, where he was detained. The boy was transported to a juvenile detention center and the case is pending in the Monroe County Youth Court.

Police did not say whether the boy and the homeowner knew each other prior to the incident.
