24-year-old Zachary Miller of Kokomo, Indiana, called police to report that he killed his grandfather.

When officers arrived, they found 67-year-old John Miller lying on the floor and Zachary sitting nearby in a chair.

Zachary was arrested on charges of murder and assault after he admitted to hitting his grandfather over the head with a frying pan.

Zachary told detectives that he then “choked him for so long that his arms got tired.”

According to court documents, Zachary cut his grandfather’s wrist to see him “bleed out.”

When questioned about the motive of the attack, Zachary told police “because of a story about Vietnam.”

His grandmother Betty Miller, said that her husband loved Zachary, who recently began showing signs of mental illness.

The family tried to get help for the 27-year-old man and he began taking medication. Betty said that they began fearing for their lives after Zachary killed her dog two weeks ago.
