Man rams car into prison because he wanted to visit his locked up friends

(Scroll down for video) A man who was under the influence of drugs, rammed his car into a prison because he wanted to visit his friends, according to police in Florida.

Indian River County police said that they have arrested 24-year-old Patrick Rempe, after being accused of trying to climb over a fence of the prison after nearly mowing down a prison guard.

Rempe is facing charges of aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, battery on a law enforcement officer, criminal mischief, leaving the scene of a crash with property damage and driving under the influence.

He was taken to the Indian River Medical Center, where he is being treated for his injuries.

According to the police investigation, Rempe rammed his vehicle through the front prison doors, causing property damage.

He then got out of his car and tried to climb over a fence, but he got stuck in the barbed wire. Paramedics were called to the scene to remove him from the fence.

During questioning, Rempe told police that he was high on drugs and he wanted to visit his friends, who are locked up in the prison.
