A man in Florida, lost his life a short time after gaining his freedom from prison.
The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office were called to 2311 Constitution Boulevard at approximately 1:23 p.m., for reports of a shooting.
The homeowner told police that he came home from vacation and found that things were out of place.
When he searched his home, he was suddenly confronted by the burglar, who was identified as Glenn Edward Oliver, 31.
The burglar assaulted the homeowner, police said. He then went into a bedroom and armed himself with a baseball bat.
In response, the homeowner used a firearm to shoot and kill the suspect.
Detectives said that evidence inside the home indicated that Oliver forced his way in through a window while the family was out of town.
Detectives believe the homeowner shot Oliver in self-defense and therefore, he is not facing charges at this time.
Oliver has an extensive criminal history and was recently released from prison after serving a 10-year sentence for robbery with a firearm and carjacking.
