(Scroll down for video) A police officer was removed from the force after being accused of stealing money from the wallets of drunk driving suspects, according to police in Florida.
33-year-old John Braman of the Volusia County Sheriff's Office, was placed on administrative leave after multiple suspects filed complaints against the officer.
The suspects, who were all arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol, told their attorneys that money went missing from their wallets as they were being processed into jail.
They all told investigators that at some point during their arrests, Braman stated that he was shutting off his police body camera.
So far, no charges have been filed against the officer. Braman joined the force 10 years ago.
Saying he was very disappointed to make the announcement about the investigation, Sheriff Mike Chitwood added: “Integrity is the cornerstone of any law enforcement officer’s career. Once you lose your integrity, you’ve lost your ability to be an effective law enforcement officer.”
