Officers went to the West Edmonton Mall World Waterpark, where six girls reported that they were inappropriately touched by a grown man.

The girls were at the indoor swimming pool when they were sexually assaulted.

Edmonton Police Service (EPS) spokesperson Scott Pattison said that the incident that occurred on Saturday at around 10:30 p.m., “involved and traumatized six individuals and their families.”

Police found the suspect at the park. He was identified as Soleiman Hajj Soleiman, a Syrian refugee and a father of six children.

Soleiman was arrested and charged with six counts of sexual assault and six counts of sexual interference.

Pattison said that investigators believe that there were more victims. They are urging parents to talk to their children and to come forward if they were sexually assaulted.

If convicted of the crime, Soleiman may be deported back to a refugee camp.
