(Scroll down for video) Many kids would rather stay in bed than go to school, but one teacher tries to cheer them up to lure them to class.
Cindy Matthews, who is a teacher’s assistant at an elementary school in Texas, dresses up in different costumes.
She does so everyday of the year. She stands outside of the school and she greets the students as they arrive.
“This puts smiles on their faces and pep in their step even before school day begins,” the principal Joy Burchfield said.
Matthews, who has worked at the Academy of the Arts at Bransom Elementary in Burleson for over five years, began her dress up about 3 years ago during a rainy season.
Matthews explained that it has been raining for over two weeks and everyone seemed a bit gloomy. She dressed up in a raincoat and a swimming tube, and the children loved it.
Burchfield said that the children and everyone in the community love her energy and positivity.
