The Riverside Police Department said that they have arrested 24-year-old Bobby Joe Washington, after being accused of stealing vans from a funeral home.

Washington has been charged with two counts of vehicle theft, one count of assault with a deadly weapon and evading a police officer.

He was booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center, and his bail was set at $100,000.

According to the criminal complaint, on Sunday around 1:30 a.m., Washington stole the funeral home van that was parked on the 1900 block of Chicago Avenue.

The van contained the body of a recently deceased man. About an hour later, Washington came back to the funeral home and returned the stolen van along it the dead body.

The suspect then went on to steal another van that did not contain any dead bodies. A funeral home employee tried to stop the suspect, but Washington nearly ran him over.

A police officer who was nearby, followed Washington and managed to pull him over about 3 miles from the funeral home.
