A man who loves Nvidia graphics chips for games, fatally stabbed his friend for praising a rival company, according to police in Russia.

Saransk police said that they have arrested 31-year-old Alexander Trofimov, after being accused of killing his friend, 37-year-old Yevgeny Lyulin.

In court, Trofimov has been convicted of one count of murder.

He was sentenced to serve 9 and a half years in prison.

According to the police investigation, Trofimov went to visit Lyulin. Trofimov and his friend both loved playing video games, but they disagreed whether Nvidia produces better chips than AMD.

During the night, when the two were under the influence of alcohol, Lyulin praised AMD’s graphics chips, saying that its cards were excellent for professional graphics and games.

Trofimov disagreed, suggesting that Nvidia GeForce is the real choice for players. Trofimov became angry with his friend. He grabbed a knife and stabbed Lyulin twice on the head.

He then stabbed Lyulin an additional 11 times. Trofimov then burned the body to destroy evidence of the murder.
