(Scroll down for video) An Army veteran was horrified to see three men abusing a turtle.

Garry Blough Jr. of Florida, was outside of his apartment complex with his wife, young daughter and other kids from the neighborhood when he spotted the abuse.

Blough said that all of the children were in distress and some were crying while witnessing the abuse.

Blough said that the three men repeatedly picked up the turtle and threw it to the ground.

Blough asked them to stop torturing the turtle, but the men made it clear that they will not stop.

When they heard Blough asking his wife to call the Daytona Beach police, the suspects turned on him. They viciously beat the disabled Navy veteran.

Blough was left with a swollen eye and a bump on his head. When his wife called police, the men ran away.

Officers located the suspects and they were arrested.

Police identified the three suspects as Ryan Ponder, 23, Johnnie Beveritt, 18, and 16-year-old Alfred Chico.
