Berea police said that they have arrested Charles Dowdy and Danielle Simko, after their child was rushed to a hospital following an overdose on heroin.

Both parents were charged with child endangering. They were booked into jail, and bail has been set at $150,000 each. A judge banned the parents from having any contact with their child.

According to the criminal complaint, Dowdy called police to report that his 8-year-old son was not breathing. Police officers who arrived at the scene, performed CPR and took the boy to the hospital.

Doctors determined that the boy passed out due to an overdose of heroin. Police found pills and heroin in the boy’s sock.

The parents admitted to using heroin earlier in the day.
