British man on vacation in Spain dies while celebrating birthday after being hit in the head by wet floor sign during fight at hotel

A young man of the United Kingdom, who went on a dream vacation in Spain, died after being hit in the head by a sign during a large brawl at his hotel, according to police.

36-year-old Daryl Bhandal of Woolwich, went on vacation to Tenerife, where he celebrated his birthday.

According to the police investigation, a fright broke out, involving Bhandal, his wife and two other British tourists, 27-year-old John Vout and his girlfriend, 27-year-old Michelle Petersen, who were all at the Lagos de Cesar Hotel in Puerto de Santiago.

The incident happened around 12:00 a.m. on Saturday.

During the fight, Petersen grabbed a wet floor sign and threw it at Bhandal. He was rushed to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Bhandal left behind his wife and two children. Vout and Petersen, who tried to flee from the scene, were arrested. They are facing murder charges.

Vout was also taken to the hospital after being bitten during the fight and losing part of his lip.
