(Scroll down for video) A perverted BBC television presenter rented out his apartments to young women in order to watch them pleasuring themselves, according to police in the United Kingdom.

55-year-old Stephen Brookes of Stratford, has been charged with observing a person doing a private act after a tenant found a hidden camera in an air freshener.

Brookes was sentenced at the Warwick Crown Court to 12 months imprisonment after he pleaded guilty to 7 counts of observing a person doing a private act.

According to the criminal complaint, one of the victims noticed an air freshener on top of a cupboard.

When she closely examined it, she noticed some wires and a battery stored in the back of the air freshener as well as a camera concealed inside.

She contacted the police, who confiscated the item and subsequently arrested the defendant.

Officers seized a number of electrical items belonging to Brookes and discovered a number of recordings of women using rooms, which he had rented out as well as an app linking the device to his mobile phone.

“Brookes abused his position of trust to secretly film young women who used his property. He had discreetly positioned hidden cameras in rooms, which he knew the victims would use. The feed from these cameras went directly to his mobile phone.

“When he was eventually caught, he admitted to his guilt and he will now have to deal with the consequences of his actions,” Paul Reid, District Crown Prosecutor from West Midlands Crown Prosecution Service, said.

Brookes worked for the BBC for many years and has won several awards for his gardening advice.
